Hello!
We are Jesse and Leah Steffensmeier of Midwest Wagyu Beef. We both grew up on small family farms in southeast Iowa, just 11 miles from each other. We took different career paths initially, but we were brought back to farming after we married in 2007. We began raising American Wagyu in 2015, having learned of it's high quality and tremendous health benefits. Our farm to table operation began when Leah retired from medicine in 2018, seeing the importance of providing a healthy source of beef for families. Faith, family, & farming are the core value of our operation, and we aim to serve that in every bite of our Premium American Wagyu Beef.
Our Mission
To raise Premium American Wagyu Beef to improve the health and well-being of the families upon whose table it is served.
The Cowboy
Howdy! I’m Jesse, the proud steward of Midwest Wagyu Beef, where I oversee every step of our cattle’s journey—from calving to feeding to delivering top-notch American Wagyu beef straight to your table. Growing up on a small family farm in Southeast Iowa, I developed a passion for agriculture that has only deepened over the years.
After marrying Leah in 2007, we took a leap back into farming, and in 2015, we started raising American Wagyu cattle. Our mission is simple but meaningful: to provide premium, healthy beef for families while maintaining the values of faith, family, and farming that guide our lives.
What sets our operation apart? At Midwest Wagyu Beef, we blend traditional farming wisdom with modern practices to raise cattle in stress-free environments, using feed grown right on our farm. The result? Beef that’s hormone-free, antibiotic-free, and unmatched in flavor and tenderness.
Every bite of our Wagyu tells a story of dedication, care, and a commitment to excellence. Thanks for stopping by—we’re thrilled to share a taste of our family farm with you!
The Cowgirl
Hi there! I’m Leah, the other half of Midwest Wagyu Beef and the one who makes sure our premium American Wagyu finds its way from our pastures to your plate. My journey began on a small family farm in Southeast Iowa, just like Jesse’s. After starting my career in medicine, I realized my passion lay closer to my roots—farming and providing wholesome, high-quality food for families.
In 2018, I took a leap of faith, retiring from medicine to focus on building our farm-to-table operation. Since then, I’ve been the driving force behind the scenes—managing everything from our product lineup to ensuring every package of Wagyu beef is delivered with the care and quality it deserves.
I’m proud of what we’ve built at Midwest Wagyu Beef. Our commitment to producing beef that’s not only delicious but also ethically raised and hormone-free comes from our belief in faith, family, and farming. Every customer we serve becomes part of our extended family, and it’s my mission to make every interaction and every bite of our beef a reflection of that connection.
